I'd put Wolves behind you dude, it's a ghost town and the spirits aren't up for getting down any more.

A few Bham venues you could try:

The Victoria
Island Bar
The Yardbird

There's loads, if you want I can ask around and let you know what people say. Often venues can be a bit frosty and will put room hire charges up, but if you pack it out once they lighten up.
